Cottage Glen of Ellison Bay is located off Lakeview Road, tucked around the corner from downtown Ellison Bay near Highway 42 and Mink River Road. In this beautiful 40 acre community you will discover beautiful woodlands with majestic hardwoods, towering pines and rolling terrain. Cottage Glen was developed with a respect for its natural beauty and a commitment to the environment.
In the center of the community five acres has been returned to a native Wisconsin prairie. Along the southern edge of the property a five-acre bluff is protected with a perpetual conservation easement. In addition, there are extensive green space areas interspersed throughout the entire community with a network of well maintained walking paths throughout the forty acres.

To date 35 of the 53 planned homes have been built.  All units have been built by Portside Builders utilizing high standards of construction. Exterior walls six inch thick walls and the windows are all energy efficient. With Propane gas heating, a large stone fireplace in each unit and high efficiency air conditioning, homes are very comfortable year round.

Home Choices

Potential owners have three building options to choose from:

Fourplex townhomes are 2000+ square feet with primary living on main level and single car garage. Each home has two bedrooms, a den, two and a half bathrooms and an upstairs and downstairs living area.

Duplex Homes:
Duplexes are 1850 sq ft, featuring two bedrooms, a den, a sunroom, dining area and living room with two baths. Current duplex homes have high ceilings and are available with living all on one level minimizing stairs. Each Duplex comes with an ample 2 car garage.

Free-Standing Homes:
Stand alone homes are available in several styles from 1750-2500 sq feet. There are a variety of plans and options within those plans including a choice between one and two car garages. Nine sites are still available for newfree standing homes and occasionally homes are available for resale.

Rec Center

Cottage Glen has a lovely Rec Center with a spacious lounge with adjoining prep kitchen. In addition, there are locker rooms and a fitness room with exercise equipment.

The Rec Center also has a whirlpool, sauna and two pools: a large indoor lap pool and an outdoor swimming pool.


Near the Rec Center we have two tennis courts available for residents to use. It is also marked for Pickle Ball for those who enjoy that sport.


In 2011 the residents voted to add a solar panel array to the Rec Center roof. This array pays a portion of the electric bill for the Rec Center.

Walking Paths

Throughout the grounds extensive hiking trails wind through the beautiful woods. A covered walking bridge leads to the Ellison Bay park and shore and to village shops and restaurants. 


Doug, our wonderful resident caretaker, takes care of the grounds, plows the snow in winter, maintains the gardens of  the townhomes,  maintains our water and septic systems, and maintains the pools and Rec Center. Doug is available to check on your home when you are gone for long periods and will make sure it is ready for you when you return.

The Association Fees are payable quarterly and cover our full time resident caretaker as well as operating expenses such as payroll, road maintenance, use and upkeep of the common elements, trash removal, recycling, snow removal, and sanitary system and water usage. The fees also fund specific reserves for items such as painting, roofing, equipment replacement, and road resurfacing.

Gardens and Landscaping

Owners of free-standing and duplex homes are responsible for maintaining their own landscaping within a defined area around the residence. Property beyond this defined area is maintained by the Association in a manner consistent with the natural setting. In order to maintain uniformity around the 4-unit buildings, owners will not be allowed to have individual landscaping. All plantings around the 4-unit buildings will be maintained by the Association.


Owners are allowed a maximum of two domesticated pets (dogs &/or cats). Pets must be on leash or in the owner’s hands while outdoors. Owners are responsible for picking up after their pets. Renters and guests are not allowed to have pets on the property.


Gas grills only are allowed at the residences and duplexes in Cottage Glen and they must conform with local ordinances.

The Association has  Board of Directors which is currently controlled by the Developer. Each unit owner will have a vote in all elections and the Developer will have special voting privileges according to the Declaration.

Cottage Glen is primarily owner occupied. It is possible to rent out units however, rentals must be for one month minimum. Guests are always welcome although residents are responsible to make sure that their guests adhere to Cottage Glen guidelines.

High speed internet and Cable TV is available through Charter to all residences of Cottage Glen.
